happy monday! today i’m sharing a few recent purchases that i’m loving (and one that didn’t quite work):
aerie raw cut city sweatshirt || i made mention in last friday’s post that i’m currently living in my raw cut city sweatshirt from aerie. but i wanted to highlight it again in today’s post just in case you missed it (i’m wearing it above). it’s the perfect slouchy sweatshirt to throw over everything from your workout leggings to your favorite pair of broken-in denim, or to keep you cozy for a lazy weekend morning at home. it comes in six colors and is currently on sale for under $25. i realize it seems silly to talk about sweatshirts as we’re gearing up for summer but if you’re a local san diegan, you may be privy to a little concept called “may grey/june gloom.” despite what the calendar says, there are still chilly mornings ahead of us!
mango ruffle linen-blend skirt || i’ve recently been on the hunt for a good white skirt since i decided to consign an old style that no longer fit me. after perusing mango’s website, i stumbled upon this ruffled linen version and immediately added it to my cart. i love the ruffled detail (obviously) as well as the button-front style. the asymmetrical hem also gives it a bit of character. i can see it paired with my sleeveless chambray, boardwalk sandals (more on them in a minute), and straw bag for a perfect summer ensemble. unfortunately when it arrived it was very sheer, as in, you can see all of my anatomy kind of sheer. yikes. i thought about purchasing a slip to wear underneath it, but i envisioned wearing the skirt in the summer where a slip would be just an unwanted layer in the heat. so back it went to mango’s stock room and my search continues.
old navy twill jacket in dried herb || considering the fact that i’m never not cold, i have been making a conscious effort to add various pieces of outerwear to my closet so i’m never without a second/third layer when we’re out and about and the weather inevitably changes. after touting this old navy gem as the perfect everyday jacket, i decided to order it in the dried herb (a muted moss color) as well (you know how i feel about buying multiples!). olive is a neutral in my book so i know it will fit into my wardrobe seamlessly. also, it’s a dupe for this popular madewell jacket but for a third of the price. i anticipate pairing it with this blouse, this dress, and with any and all pairs of denim.
gap live-in pretty wireless bra || to me, bra shopping is right up there with bathing suit and jean shopping. it is a SLOG. mostly because stores don’t seem to cater to small-chested gals. at least small-chested gals that don’t want to make their chest appear as if there’s more than meets the eye. it’s harder than you think to find a standard nude-colored everyday bra without padding, push-up technology or lace. my last few bra purchases have been from gap body so when it was time to retire my latest underwire team (fun fact: i own exactly three bras –one of them being strapless and all nude-colored), i naturally went back to the source. this time i found that gap has since introduced wireless styles and i was intrigued. i ordered the live-in pretty bra as well as the live-in pretty bralette. both took a few wears to get broken-in, but now that the memory foam has molded to my ladies, they are so.dang.comfortable! i didn’t realize how much i loathe wires digging into my sternum (but really, who doesn’t?). ANYWAY, i highly recommend both styles if you’re looking to go underwire free. on a similar note, i recently posed the question to my instagram followers for a recommendation for a good strapless bra. many people replied back with thirdlove (the brand you hear advertised on your favorite podcast) and aerie, both of whose websites i perused before deciding to stick with gap. i ordered their everyday smooth multiway bra. it’s too soon to tell if it’s a true winner, but give me some time and i’ll be sure to do a full review.
aerie softest sleep ruffle nightie || i’m not really a lingerie person, give me a cozy pair of pajamas any day. but there are times when i feel like i should make some sort of effort to look cute for my husband (and for myself, too!). so when i was doing some shopping at aerie recently, i decided to snag this cute ruffled sleep nightie. when it arrived, i was pleasantly surprised by a) how soft it really was and b) how, despite being better described as cute and cozy, how subtly sexy it was, too. summers are always HOT where we live (even with the comfort of air conditioning) so i know this will get a lot of wear -at bedtime, but also as a “house dress” to wear on a lazy weekend afternoon when i’m guzzling all the iced coffee to stay cool.
madewell boardwalk ankle-strap sandal in natural buff || since first slipping these sandals on for this post, i haven’t taken them of since. they are the perfect summer sandal IMHO and i plan on wearing them non-stop until boot season returns. they come in three colors, natural buff (a nude color), english saddle (rich cognac), and true black. they fit true to size (i wear a 9.5) and the ankle-strap detail gives them a bit of sophistication so they’re a step up from your regular summer sandal. at under $60 they’re a bit of a splurge but one worth taking for how often they’ll get worn.

Everyone of those purchases are perfect. I mostly love the skirt but the site says it’s no longer available ((sad face)). My next favorite is the darling nightie. You have a great eye for practical AND darling clothes.

Aww, thank you! I loved the skirt, too, but it is on its way back to the store since it was way too see-through. Oh well. I wore the nightie all day yesterday and it was perfect, so comfy and perfect for summer!
xoxo
