my online purchases usually come in waves. it’ll be weeks without a credit card charge and then BAM all of a sudden i have eight separate tracking numbers land in my inbox. whoopsies. in my defense, i honestly return about 90% of everything i buy. furthermore i can confidently say that every single one of the listed items were purchased on SALE (some up to 50% off!). that has to count for something, right? maybe don’t answer that.
at any rate, i have yet to receive everything listed so i will be sure to update this post once i have had an opportunity to model each piece, but of the items i have had a chance to review, i will offer my styling suggestions below. the great news is, a majority of these pieces are STILL being offered at a discount so if anything tickles your fancy, you, too can snag it for a steal (see promo codes at the end of each description). happy shopping!
urban outfitters victoria oversized v-neck sweater || stay tuned tomorrow because i have a blogpost and speedy video showcasing five different ways to style this cozy sweater. i wasn’t planning on stopping by urban outfitters last week, but somehow i found myself nearby and popped in for a quick perusal of the store. it was then i learned that all sweaters were 30% off. twist my arm, why don’t you. while the reduced price certainly intrigued me, the overall fit of the v-neck knit is what ultimately won me over. in a time where everything feels cropped, this sweater is refreshingly long and oversized. i plan on wearing it in the middle of january with a pair of faux leather leggings and my leopard booties. sizing: i opted for the small but could have probably even taken an xs. PROMO: no code needed for $20 off original price.
j.crew dreamy pajama jogger pant || file under things you can truly never have enough of –the perfect house pants. i find that i wear (and subsequently wash) my “house clothes” so often that they get tend to need to be replaced fairly frequently. what are “house clothes” you ask? they are precisely that; the items you put on upon immediately entering your house from the events of your day. for me, they are the pieces i turn to as soon as i come home, take a shower, make myself a snack, and settle in to empty out my DVR. aside from my workout clothes, they are far and away the most worn garments in my wardrobe. whenever i notice j.crew having a MAJOR sale (i’m talking 50-60% off), i always do a quick scan of the website to see if any of their tried and true staples are included in said promo. i own these dreamy joggers in a striped version and they are, in fact, quite dreamy. so i decided to order myself the same pair in the light and dark grey. sizing: they run slightly big so i recommend sizing down one size. PROMO: use code BUNDLEUP for 40% off + THESKIMM for an additional 20% off.
update: while i love my striped pair, i found these joggers to be only so so. they do fit on the generous side, so i stand by my advice for sizing down. ultimately i ended up returning these to the store.
j.crew point sure slouchy boyfriend jean || i’ll be honest, these jeans were 100% an impulse buy. i feel like one of my life’s missions is to find the perfect boyfriend jeans (blame my muscular thighs/booty but i have yet to find a pair that is the perfect amount of bagginess in my thigh/hip region without being huge in the waist). the word ‘slouchy’ makes me believe that this particular pair of denim could be the answer to my plight. i am having them shipped directly to my local store so i’ll let you know how they fit once they arrive. sizing: TBD. while i was able to snag them at 40% off, they are currently excluded from the aforementioned promo. BUT keep your eyes peeled on the website because j.crew is bound to put them on discount very soon (they are never not having a sale, i promise).
update: okay, so these are HUGE on me, BUT, i kind of love their obnoxious bagginess. i would definitely size down at least one size (maybe two). they are a rigid denim with a button fly with very subtle distressing and an unfinished hem. though i would normally opt for a darker wash in the fall/winter, there’s something i find charming about the light denim. i plan on wearing these with a belt (obviously) and a fitted top. i also plan on cuffing the pant legs and pairing them with sock booties or mules.
mango ribbed jersey dress || mango is now one of those websites that i peruse weekly. after this dress and this dress have fast become closet staples, i’m constantly on the lookout for more effortless pieces i can add to my arsenal. right now i am on a ribbed kick. give me all the ribbed dresses please and thank you. when i spotted this dress in the most dreamy hunter green color on mango’s website, i immediately fell in love. we’re heading to la quinta for thanksgiving this year (i CANNOT wait and you best believe i will share my packing list!) and this festive frock felt perfect for our holiday feast (i plan on pairing it with booties and maybe a belt). it arrived on friday and you guys, it is HEAVEN. truly one of the most comfortable pieces i’ve ever tried on. it’s a substantial fabric, but not so much that you feel suffocated. i had ordered it at 30% off during mango’s columbus day sale a week or so ago and upon trying it on, marched right back to the website and ordered it in black since mango is having yet another sale this weekend with the same discount. i’m considering it fate. sizing: i wear a US4 at mango (european sizing) and it’s perfect. a little oversized but in a good way. PROMO: use code FAMILY19 for 30% off.
abercrombie knit midi skirt || one of the things i love most about being part of the style blogging community are all of the stylish internet friends i’ve “met” over the last few years. two of those ladies are ashley of @lovealwaysashleyj and ailsa of @_happygocurly_. both of these women constantly inspire me with their personal style and have turned me on to some really great fashion finds along the way. what i hope to be one such find is this knit skirt from abercrombie. as i mentioned above, i have a thing for ribbed knits lately so after eyeing this skirt for a while, i finally decided to order it once it went on promo for 30% off. both ashley and ailsa have styled it a bunch of different ways, and given my love for my collection of high-slit midi skirts from abercrombie (i wore my snakeskin one last night!), i can see me remixing the knit version over and over again this winter. sizing: i believe these fit TTS, i ordered my usual small in both the grey and black to determine which one i like more and fingers crossed it/they fit(s)! i’ll update soon. PROMO: no code needed for 30% off everything. prices reflected at checkout.
update: i feel like these skirts took FOREVER to arrive in the store but they were well worth the wait. they are SO comfortable and incredibly flattering. the slit is pretty generous but nothing too crazy for this normally modest gal. i find ribbed bodycon skirts need to have a slit otherwise you’d be walking around like a penguin. anyway, i found they fit fairly TTS, though they were a tad bit big in the waist. for body-hugging styles, i usually opt for a little breathing room rather than skintight. between the black and grey, i opted to keep the grey. the black is very similar to the ribbed midi dress i got from mango so i wanted to add a little variety and with the grey -i think i can transition it easier from winter back into spring. i’ll be teaming up with my friend adrianna in the coming weeks for a styling session featuring this skirt so stay tuned!
abercrombie puff sleeve sweatshirt || once i ordered the dreamy jogger pants, i started thinking of what i might wear them with. since j.crew didn’t have any viable options, i noticed these cute puff sleeve versions on abercrombie’s website instead. while i’m not 100% sure they’ll match perfectly (i ordered them in cream and grey), i figured they’ll come pretty close. furthermore, the sweatshirts are feminine enough to be paired with jeans and even skirts. sizing: i ordered up one size for a slouchier fit. my only fear is that they’ll be a bit to cropped for my torso. stay tuned for a full review. PROMO: no code needed for 30% off everything. prices reflected at checkout.
update: i’ll admit that these sweatshirts were a bit of an impulse purchase but i’m glad i at least got to try them out in person before making the ultimate decision to return them. given the fact that they were intended to be paired with my j.crew joggers, i didn’t see it necessary to keep them in the end. as far as the fit goes, i’d say they fit pretty TTS. sizing up did make them quite baggy, so it just depends on how you’d like your sweatshirts to fit.
aerie oversized cloud sherpa quarter snap pullover || try to say that three times fast! for a gal that’s always cold, i live for a good pullover to keep my muscles warm on my way to and from my daily workout. i recently had to return something to zara at our local mall and managed to make it into the aerie storefront nearby. it was there that i found this sherpa pullover that 100% lives up to its name -it feels like wearing a cloud. did i mention it also has pockets?! it has already sold out in most of the colors online, but is still available in olive and off white. i opted for the latter and can’t wait to wear it over leggings while on my way to barre and yoga. sizing: i opted for a small for length. i think i bought it while it was 40% off, but it doesn’t seem to be on discount right now. similar to j.crew’s website, aerie/american eagle are always having a sale so keep your eye out for an upcoming discount code.
lou & grey signature softblend sweatshirt || this sweatshirt and sweatpants set was also an influenced purchase from one of my favorite style bloggers (whose loungewear game is always on point), shannon of @itsybitsyindulgences. she raved of its coziness and looked so comfortable and chic as she sported it on a recent plane ride to park city. while i have plenty of sweatpants and sweatshirts, i had yet to have a matching set so i figured it may come in handy once the temperatures finally drop. and though we don’t have any trips planned as of now, i like to think i’ll be prepared for plane travel once we put one on the calendar. sizing: i ended up ordering up a size because as i mentioned above, i prefer my sweatshirts on the oversized side. i’ll keep you posted as to whether it runs TTS or not. PROMO: use code FRIENDS for 40% off.
update: unlike the abercrombie sweatshirts, i decided to KEEP the lou and grey sweatshirt and matching sweatpants. sizing up was definitely a good call since the pieces don’t feel that much bigger than my normal size. the fabric is BEYOND comfortable and the all black ensemble feels terribly chic.
lou & grey signature softblend sweatpants || 259 5-star reviews can’t be wrong, correct? these sweatpants all but have a cult following, it seems. i love the idea of pairing them with the aforementioned sweatshirt and a pair of leopard mules for an easy travel or errand-running look. i’m just so happy to be living in a time where athleisure exists. at its core, this set is just fancy pajamas. sizing: i also ordered up a size in the sweatpants. the reviews were mixed as to whether or not they run TTS or slightly large so they could be comically big. stay tuned for an update. PROMO: use code FRIENDS for 40% off.
update: piggy-backing off of what i stated above -these sweats live up to their hype! again, i’m glad i sized up one for a slouchier fit. i will say they are fairly loose in the waist, but nothing that a taught tie in the drawstrings can’t fix.
p.s. the black dress i’m wearing in the photo above is also a recent-ish purchase that i LOVE (i wore it in this post, too and styled it 6 different ways in this post). it’s also part of mango’s friends and family sale and 30% off with PROMO: FAMILY19.
i get a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post. thank you for supporting the brands that keep this blog up and running.
