the best $22 jeans

i can probably count the number of times i’ve worn jeans in the last year on both hands. between raising nine month old twins and being mostly housebound as a result of the pandemic, there have been very few occasions that have warranted pants with structured waistbands.

HOWEVER when two instagram influencers raved about these target jeans, i had to see what the fuss was all about. while i’m happy to spend a little more in the name of good denim, the fact that they were only TWENTY TWO AMERICAN DOLLARS was quite appealing. i ordered them in the light and black washes and watched the front porch in anticipation until they arrived.

if you caught my instagram stories (don’t worry if you didn’t, the review is saved under my highlights as “target jeans”), you know i was pleasantly surprised by how much the denim lived up to its hype. while the black wash was a fun twist on a classic, ultimately i chose to return that pair and keep the light wash instead. as we head into spring and summer (and eventually out of this pandemic), i have a feeling i’ll be reaching for these distressed jeans over and over again (the holes will be like built-in air conditioning in the heat).

on a family trip to ikea this weekend, i decided to pair my new jeans with a long-sleeve henley top but as we inch our way toward higher temperatures, i plan on wearing them with drapey tanks and maybe even -wait for it –a bodysuit.

a quick note about sizing –the jeans have a LOT of give so you could definitely size down if you’re looking for a more fitted silhouette. i will say, i stayed true to size and after a couple wears, they’ve stretched out a bit in both the waist and hips. i plan on running them through the washer and dryer to see if that helps shrink them back to their original fit. the reviews on the target website are pretty mixed about sizing, so if you’re confused, i say order both your regular size and one size down and simply return the pair that doesn’t work!

i get a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post. thank you for supporting the brands that keep this blog up and running.
