well it’s that time of year again –the time we gather up our family, dress everyone in coordinating outfits, and bribe our children to smile for the sake of at least one good snap to slap across a holiday template as this year’s christmas card. the above photo is from last year’s photoshoot (can you believe how tiny the twins are?!) which we managed to do on a random saturday in november thanks to my mom’s fabulous photography skills.
this year we plan on taking our yearly photos in la quinta when we’re there in a few weeks to kick off the christmas season. i’m not usually one for wearing red and green, so i opted for a more neutral palette from which to build our looks. in all honesty, it was these pants that we scored for hen that really provided the inspiration. i mean a sherpa jogger? say no more! the camel color became the backdrop from which the remaining outfits were formed. ironically i’m still the one without a solidified look, but as you can see below, i’ve ordered a couple options in hopes of coming up with the perfect ensemble. anyway, i’ll of course share the final product once we’ve taken said photos, but in the meantime, here are the individual pieces!
for henry:
gap toddler sherpa joggers + gap toddler waffle-knit henley t-shirt || so these pants are kind of a lot, but they were too cute to pass up! to offset their statement, i opted for a simple waffle-knit henley in a classic cream.
for delilah:
gap toddler collared top in winter ochre brown + gap baby ribbed-knit sweater leggings || mommy is passing along her love for peter pan collars to dede with this cute ochre-colored top. the black polka dots will tie in with shawn’s flannel pattern, too! we have such a hard time finding pants that fit our peanut girl, so i loved the idea of pairing a sweater legging with the top since they tend to boast a snugger silhouette. since we believe in “winter white” in our household, she will no doubt get a lot of use out of these all season long.
for shawn:
j.crew factory plaid regular flannel shirt in shadow black || it’s been a hot minute since shawn got a new flannel so we took this opportunity to spruce up his collection with a ochre and black checked pattern. not only is it unlike anything he already owns, the colors will pair perfectly with the rest of our outfits. he has a pair of dark denim levi’s he always pulls out this time of year and i think they’ll be great with the flannel and his beloved frye boots.
for shawna:
abercrombie long-sleeve sweetheart sweater bodysuit || after the sweater dress i ordered for these photos turned out to be a bust, i decided it might be better to go the separates route. when this bodysuit that i had been eyeing went on sale, i scooped it up in cream. i am currently awaiting its arrival, but my intention is to wear it paired with my leopard midi skirt since the animal print is a similar color scheme as the family palette.
h&m cardigan with tie belt || should the bodysuit not work out, i also ordered this tie-waist cardigan to layer over an existing dress in my closet (or maybe my smocked jumpsuit?). and if that doesn’t pan out either, i can always go super simple and layer it over a tank, pair it with distressed jeans, my cowboy boots, and a felt hat. so basically everyone is set but me, lol. stay tuned for what i ultimately decide!
