invite me to your holiday party and chances are i’m showing up in this. but let’s be honest, for as much as i love being with my people, i would choose a cozy night at home over a night out at every opportunity. it’s not you, it’s me, really. BUT if your party happened to say start at 3:00 p.m. and end by 5, guys, i’d be there and again, i’d be wearing this. it’s kind of pilgrim chic, emphasis on the chic.
i waited and waited for this top to go on sale at j.crew but to no avail. after seeing it styled on real humans and how adorable it was i knew it wouldn’t stay in stock much longer so i decided to *gasp* purchase it at full price. when it arrived, it exceeded expectations. while the blouse itself is quite thin, the little feminine details really won me over. not only is it cute on its own, it really shines when layered under a cozy knit.
j.crew drapey ruffle-collar button-up shirt (2) || citizens of humanity horseshoe jeans in sonnet (25) || loeffler randall ballet flats (affordable option) || amazon sunglasses
now these jeans need no introduction, or at least the silhouette needs no introduction. this black pair (or “sonnet” as they’re labeled on the website) is now my fourth pair of citizens’ horseshoe style. i realize that may seem excessive, especially for a pair of jeans whose shape is so perplexing to some. but they make me feel incredible and i find joy in wearing them! SO after debating on whether or not to add the black pair to my collection, i finally decided to take the plunge and i’m so glad i did. they feel a little fancier than the other washes, perfect for the holiday season.
which brings me back to the beginning of this post and the fact that while i’d love to sport some sequins or feathers or fringe or a combination of all three to your holiday party, the truth is i value comfort over everything else. and this outfit is just that with maybe just a hint of holiday magic.
