true story: i’ve carried the same purse for the last three years (i got it for my 29th birthday!). every now and then i swap it out for a clutch or crossbody bag for a date night or while on vacation, but for the most part, i’m a one-bag woman.
with a new season, however, comes the itch to try out something new. and with an abundance of gorgeous totes of various shapes and styles, the question isn’t whether or not to snag one as we transition into fall, but rather which one to snag! i’ve rounded up some of my favorite bags in a variety of sizes in case you’re in the mood to test out a new tote:
with back-to-school shopping well underway, backpacks are everywhere these days. but i’ve noticed that this season, they aren’t just for the kids, in fact, mini leather backpacks (like the one i had in 4th grade) are making a comeback. truthfully, i tend to use my purse as a catch-all for various things -everything from my wallet to barre socks to snacks. i don’t even realize how heavy it is until someone else picks it up and dramatically falls to the floor as if to say i’m smuggling bowling balls or something. so the idea of carrying a backpack kind of appeals to the practical side of me (and to my lumbar region). i’m so happy i snagged this cloth backpack earlier in the summer since it came in handy on our trip and will no doubt be useful for similar getaways in the future, but as we transition into the cooler months, a lux leather backpack might be more my speed:
like most everything else in my wardrobe, my favorite place to shop for an everyday tote is madewell. the brand’s bags are always versatile yet classic, ensuring they never go out of style. this season, they’re featuring some new autumn hues including a rich cranberry and a neutral stone (my personal favorite). personally i like a medium-sized bag, but i’ve included a few styles that are on the smaller and larger side since preferences differ depending on your height and need.
i mentioned in my honeymoon packing post that crossbody bags are my go to style while traveling, but they are also super convenient in your daily life, too. the fact that they can be worn hands free is always a plus, especially for those wrangling toddlers. they’re also usually on the smaller side, ensuring you’re not packing up your life every time you leave the house -just the essentials 😉
date nights, girls’ nights, and weddings don’t stop when the seasons change so fall can be a good time to freshen up your “going out” bag collection. i recently treated myself to this madewell clutch and it’s the perfect size to carry your license, a couple credit cards, a lip gloss, and of course, your phone. you can even get it monogrammed! i’m also crushing on this cuyana beauty that combines lux suede with buttery leather in four gorgeous shades (i’m partial to the quartz).
