happy monday, loves! now that we’ve passed over halloween and are headed toward the official start of the holiday season, i wanted to dedicate this week to focusing on all things plaid -a pattern very near and dear to my heart. so for the next four days i’ll be featuring a different plaid piece and how i love to style it for day and for play. first up? the plaid skirt.
if you were to look into my closet, not only would you notice that it’s color coordinated (OCD, party of me!), you’d also notice the abundance of skirts. aside from jeans, i have a hard time finding pants that properly flatter my shape so when it comes to my work wardrobe especially, i gravitate toward skirts instead. the great thing about skirts is their versatility. you could easily wear the same skirt a few days in a row but change the entire vibe of the outfit just by swapping out the top and shoes. take for instance this plaid skirt i purchased from j.crew factory a few seasons back -you could easily pair it with red, navy, green, white, or as i’ve styled it today, with your favorite chambray. to take your look from day to play, add tights, a silk top, heels, and a statement necklace and voila, not only are you rocking the hottest trend of the season, you look mighty fine doing it.

Very nice. I grew up forced to wear plaid skirts (catholic school) so there’s a love/hate relationship going on with me. I hated plaid skirts then but I love plaid (anything) now. You look gorgeous.

I can totally relate, I wore a uniform from sixth through twelfth grade! I’ve definitely had to ease my way back into wearing plaid again, but now I can’t seem to get enough. Funny how that worked out, isn’t it?
