after a hotter than you know what summer, the recent temperature drop has been a welcomed change these past few weeks. my sweaters have made their long-awaited pilgrimage from the back of my closet to the front, and boots, tights, and scarves are on heavy rotation. i know “cold” is certainly a relative term in this part of the country, but being born and raised a southern california girl, my blood is quite thin. which means i love me a good cozy knit!
growing up, target was the source of about 90% of my wardrobe. i had countless pairs of matching floral tops and bottoms, and leggings in every color. whenever someone would ask me where my outfit was from, i’d say “tar-zhay“, pronouncing the popular chain with a fancy french accent to make it sound more upscale. but the truth was, and still is today, target is a great source for some seriously cute and budget-friendly fashion. it’s the main reason i fall victim to a “target whoopsies” more often than i’d like to admit. you know a “target whoopsies?” it’s that thing where you go into the store for toothpaste and walk out with a new set of pajamas, bath towels, and a discounted DVD of the santa clause.
but sometimes an impulse buy is just necessary. especially when you see how cute it looks on your friend and convince yourself that it would look just as cute on you, too. i’m talking about this cozy color-blocked cardigan. its marled grey and white combination make it the perfect piece of neutral outerwear to add to any outfit and its slightly oversized shape makes you feel like it’s actually a just a chic blanket in disguise. the best thing about it is that i’ve found ways to incorporate it into both my day and play wardrobes. and for me that’s a very good thing since i literally haven’t taken it off since i bought it two weeks ago.
