while i love playing dress up, the INSTANT i make it through the garage door after a long day, i’m in the shower, and straight into pajamas. which is why my loungewear wardrobe is just as -if not more -important than my work/play/workout collections combined. what can i say, i just love my sweatpants!
since i wear them so often (and subsequently wash them so often), my pajamas don’t tend to last more than a season or two. with summer temperatures alive and well (living in a condo without central air), i’m currently on the lookout for some new styles that’ll serve me both now and as we transition into the cooler months as well. below are some brands and a few of their products that have caught my eye:
gapbody || admittedly all of my current pajamas (with the exception of a pair of abercrombie & fitch sweats i’ve had since college) are from gap. while gap as a brand can be hit or miss, gapbody never lets me down. no matter what i purchase within their intimates/lounge wear collection (psa: they have great bras!), i know what i’m getting -comfort, simplicity, and washable fabrics. i mean, their stretchy rib tank is what dreams are (literally) made of. in my experience, gap sizing usually runs pretty big, but for loungewear especially, i kind of like a baggier fit. also, can talk about this cardigan? it looks like a warm hug.
eberjey || i’ve read the praises of this brand forever, but have yet to try it out for myself. their collection is a tad on the spendier side, but for how often loungewear gets worn in my house, i wouldn’t necessarily mind investing in a few classic pieces to rotate in each season. believe it or not, in my 31 years of life, i’ve never actually owned a matching pajama set but after reading this article, i totally get the justification for having at least one pair (especially when you are or host house guests) in my loungewear arsenal.
j.crew/factory || speaking of matching pajama sets, you can’t get more classic than a pair from j.crew (or its kid-sister, j.crew factory). they’re available as shorts and pants so in reality, you could snag one of each so you’re always prepared no matter the season. i love the playful piping and the fact that you can get them monogrammed. what a fun way to celebrate my upcoming name change, don’t you think? fellow brides, take note!
lou & grey || if you haven’t heard of lou & grey, they are basically the definition of loungewear. an off-shoot of loft, lou & grey focuses on simple silhouettes, an ethereal color palette, and fabrics that beg to be worn all day, errday. the great thing about this brand is that they don’t overtly look like pajamas. meaning you really could do that sunday morning donut and coffee run in a pair of their joggers and blousy tunic and no one would question whether or not you “woke up like this.”
anthropologie || i saved the most indulgent for last because sometimes you just need to treat yoself. i’m not going to lie, i’m more of an oversized sweats and ratty t-shirt (just keepin’ it real here), but sometimes you want to put on something and embrace your inner girly girl. whether you have a fella or are a single lady, everyone deserves to feel flirty and feminine. what i love about the loungewear from anthro is the fact that it’s unique. after perusing striped night shirt after striped night shirt, it was fun to look through the dainty designs and imagine adding a few into my collection. i mean, can we talk about these pants? barbara eden, eat your heart out.
i’m curious, where do you like to shop for pajamas? any stores/brands i’m missing?
