as i mentioned last week, i’m excited to start transitioning some of my summer pieces into fall. one said piece is this silk island skirt (last seen here & here) which will undoubtedly work just as well with long-sleeves and sweaters as it did with sleeveless blouses and tanks.

speaking of sweaters, i’m a sucker for a good oversized cozy one (but really, who isn’t?). i usually buy mine one size larger to convey that whole effortless billowy look. except sometimes “billowy” just looks “marshmallowy” and that’s not really the vibe i’m going for. so to ensure i show off a little bit of shape beneath a heavier knit, i like to do the front-tuck into the waistband of whatever i’m wearing on the bottom -usually a high-rise skinny jean or in this case, a high-waisted skirt. i find that little trick instantly makes the outfit feel pulled together.
on sunday, the weather kind of sort of felt like fall. so i of course immediately jumped at the opportunity to pull out some of my favorite fall pieces from their year-long hibernation. though i’ve thoroughly enjoyed romping around in rompers and denim cut-offs all summer long, i would be lying if i said i wasn’t very much looking forward to some good quality sweater weather. mostly for the fact that it’ll continue to prolong how long i wear this darn skirt. if there was a “best purchase of the season” award, this skirt would nab top honors handily.
