there are some formulas that just work. and for me that’s denim on denim -better known as a canadian tuxedo. despite the fact that denim have been around for decades, there is something so fresh about it, especially when you combine two pieces with unique details such as these. you may recall that the last time i wore this denim bow-tie shirt, i paired it with grey skinny jeans. this time, i opted for a monochromatic look by wearing it with my cropped wide-leg jeans, breaking up the blue on blue with pops of cognac.

a tip for those who are apprehensive about wearing a similar look -opt for denims in different washes to avoid looking like britney and justin circa 2001. what i loved about this pairing in particular is the fact that the darker top complimented the bottom layer of the ombre-colored hem. the key in wearing monochrome is alternating the shades of the hue slightly to give the ensemble visual interest. that way it looks like your outfit was created with intention.
