after last week’s post sharing my newfound affections for club monaco, i took advantage of the recent shopbop sale and treated myself to this pretty little maxi skirt. even with the discount, it was definitely more than i normally spend on a garment, but i knew i could style it a zillion different ways -for work and for play, as well as bring it along for our upcoming honeymoon. plus my husband said i deserved a treat for how hard i work, so thanks, babe. ANYWAY, though i’ve strayed from adding anything to my closet that goes outside my usual neutral color palette, the fact that this skirt has black trim definitely helped sway me into making the exception.

i went with the obvious pairing today -a simple black tank, but i can’t wait to remix it with a white blouse, a grey sweater, or even a chambray. it’s the kind of skirt that i’ll probably end up wearing at least once a week, if for no other reason that it makes me so dang happy.
