master bath inspiration

i used to take baths religiously in high school. i’d come home from a long day of classes and cheer practice, draw myself a bath and do my required AP reading for hours until the water had turned cold and my fingers resembled raisins. the pages of my books all had the water damage to prove it.

but somewhere over the past 12+ years i’ve developed a slight aversion to the once daily indulgence. maybe it’s because the bathtub in the condo’s master bath has never quite fit my body (it’s a little shallow and a few inches too short) or maybe i was just trying to conserve water? whatever the reason, the bottom line is that i’m willing to fall back in love with the #selfcare ritual, especially since our new master bath is too good to pass up. along with his and her’s sinks and his and her’s counter space (!), our bathroom also boasts a gorgeous sunken jacuzzi tub with plenty of space surrounding it for all of the bath time fixings. it’s also right in front of a window (a window, i might add that is too high up for anyone to get a free show, thank goodness) so gimme all the natural light, please and thank you. here are a few items i’ve got my eye on to create my own spa-like oasis at casa de rivera:

candles

to create a serene ambiance, i envision tons of candles! S and my favorite candles are from anthropologie but because those can be a bit spendy (here’s a tip -buy a TON of them when they go on sale on black friday and then stow them away in a hall closet. as you work through them, replace them from your stocked supply! your home will never be without the delicious scents again!), i also love the idea of just a bunch of white pillar candles in a variety of sizes.

towels/bath mats

i plan on keeping the color scheme fairly similar to the decor in our current master bath -whites and tans with gold accents. we also incorporated a lot of black but i think it might be too harsh with all of the natural light, white counter tops, cabinets, and light tan tile in the new house. so while i’ll be keeping our current towels (we have these), i’ll be looking for alternatives for bathmats and other accessories. i’m obsessed with these cute rose mats (ordered two!) and am thinking it might be fun to swap out the white ceramic knobs for something gold.

robes

what’s an in home spa without a nice plush robe? in all honesty, i usually wear something like this when getting ready since i get too hot in a robe, especially when curling my hair, but for those winter mornings or even chilly summer evenings, a cozy robe would be perfect to snuggle up in right out of the bath.

jars/storage

it’s funny, after needing to keep our bathroom clean for photographs (to post on real estate websites) and open houses/showings, i’ve kind of grown accustomed to keeping the counter tops pretty bare. but there are so many pretty glass jars and other accessories these days, it would be a shame not to accessorize the bathroom with a few functional pieces. we already have a couple of glass jars to hold q-tips and cotton balls, but i’m eyeing this tray to replace our rustic one to keep up with our more sleek, modern aesthetic.

i get a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post. thank you for supporting the brands that keep this blog up and running.
