polka dots vs. stripes -the eternal debate. on which side do you declare your allegiance?

lately, i’ve been gravitating much more toward the latter. there’s just something so classic about a good striped tee -especially in the summer (nautical vibes, right?). but after i spotted (get it?!) this top on my friend natalie, my deep-rooted love for polka dots was suddenly rekindled. the black and white color palette makes it an instant classic for any wardrobe while the boyfriend fit ensures that it’s just as comfortable as it is chic. i opted for the small, though i might have elected one size down since it is more generously cut. i’ll probably end up tucking it into my high-waisted pants/jeans (as i did in these photos) or even knotting it at the hem for a tighter-fit. and of course, it will definitely be perfect worn under my santiago wash overalls (duh).

for a casual weekend look, i paired the tee with my button-front wide leg cropped denim in the lunar wash and matching black leather booties. my black bead hoops from natalie borton finished off the look.
