as soon as i spotted this dress on free people’s website, i knew it had major potential. the bohemian silhouette, the gorgeous mustard color, the pockets (!). for someone with a small chest, i knew the elastic boddess would offer a flattering fit and the midi-length hem was a refreshing change from all of the mini styles i’m used to seeing this time of year. i put it on my christmas wishlist and thankfully santa delivered on christmas day.
free people oasis midi dress (xs -comes in three other colors)

though i’ve perused the website numerous times, i had never actually ordered anything from free people. i had heard it tended to run a little large so i was glad i opted for an extra-small. though it’s from the brand’s winter collection, the gauzy fabric and the fact that the sleeves can be worn a few different ways makes this dress versatile for multiple seasons.
to be honest, this was my new year’s eve outfit. but when S and i went to shoot it for the blog, the weather had different plans. you see, we’ve been experiencing true “winter” around these parts (for san diego’s standards anyway) and between the bitter cold and the intermittent showers, getting dressed has been a bit trickier than usual. so i waited a couple days until the sunshine came back out and we tried again (this time with my sweet mom as my photographer). with a dress this beautiful, i kept everything else fairly minimal, opting for my suede slim-calf booties (i can’t stop wearing them!) and simple gold earrings to accessorize the look.
