six dresses i’m crushing on

if there’s one thing i’ve learned over the past 14 months of parenting twins, it’s that #selfcare is essential for survival. right now that looks like showering, putting on make-up, and a fun outfit during the babies’ first nap as a sort of restart on my day. with the august heat alive and well, most days said ‘fun outfit’ means wearing a flowy dress and sandals. despite what some may think, i find (midi/maxi) dresses to be very mom-friendly, which is perhaps why i can’t seem to stop buying them… as i contemplate which style is next to find a home in my closet, here are the six i’m currently crushing on:

textured ruffled dress || surprise, surprise, the dress atop my crush list is from mango (pretends to be shocked). as i’ve mentioned many times before, the spain-based brand continues to be my favorite place to shop for festive frocks. i realize white dresses aren’t the most practical when it comes to #momlife but at least it’s machine washable! personally i like to wear dresses like these all year long. i’d pair it with my lace-up sandals now, and with lace-up boots or cowboy boots this fall.

puff short sleeve smocked dress || would you believe this one is from target?! leave it to my own mama for finding this cute smocked number. target’s universal thread line continues to impress season after season (their dresses were all i wore during the last months of pregnancy). this puff sleeve midi comes in three color patterns and is just $30 (did i mention it also has pockets?)! my mom ordered it in blue and snagged me one in green. it should arrive soon so fingers crossed it’s a winner! i plan on wearing it with my white converse, of course!

check baby doll neck dress || so this dress makes a statement. right now i’m trying to figure out if that statement is “me” or not, lol. i love the baby doll neckline and the smocked bodice but i think the blue and black checked pattern is throwing me off? i wish it came in a different color combination! i actually love how it’s styled on mango’s website -with a pair of black combat boots.

strappy buttoned maxi dress || this is another sarah sherman samuel influence…i recently saw her wearing this maxi dress in a gorgeous canary yellow while giving a tour of her new home in her instagram stories. it moved so beautifully that i had to check it out for myself! when i got to the website, i realized it also comes in white (which i feel is a bit more my speed). this is the kind of dress i wish i had had through pregnancy! i’d style it with lace-up espadrilles and an oversized denim jacket for a perfect late summer date night look.

ruffle-detail dress || as soon as i spotted this dress on someone’s liketoknow.it profile, i immediately ordered it. do i already own something eerily similar that i have not yet even worn (i need to take it to the tailor ASAP)? yes, yes i do. so did i really need another version of it? yes, yes i did. polka dots will do that to you. i love its retro feel and the exaggerated ruffled sleeves. if it proves to be as good in person, i’ll style it with metallic sandals and a bold lip.

check pattern midi dress || last but not least, another mango find and it’s currently on sale! to me gingham is one of those classic patterns that stands the test of time. it always reminds me of summer but can easily transition into the cooler months with the proper accessories. this silhouette is similar to the first white dress i listed -billowy and a bit oversized, perfect for staying cool in the heat. i’d pair it with my lace-up sandals, sneakers, or hunter boots once the temperatures drop.

p.s. the dress i’m wearing is still on sale! i’m wearing a small/4.

i get a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post. thank you for supporting the brands that keep this blog up and running.
