the title of this post should really read “what i’m packing for la quinta where the temperature is currently triple digits” because it’s HOT in the desert, y’all. we should have known this could be our plight when we booked this mini birthday celebration back in march, but given how dreary it has been in san diego, it didn’t really dawn on me that parts of the country (or in our case, the state) are already experiencing summer-like conditions. regardless, whether we like it or not, it’s going to be toasty so i am making sure i’m packing accordingly!
normally i tend to overpack when we venture out on a vacation that’s within driving distance from home since i’m not held to the constraints of a piece of carry-on luggage. but given the fact that we’re going to be at the resort for just under 72 hours and more importantly — that i’ll want to be in little clothes as possible in 113-degree(!) heat –i think i’ve done a pretty good job at bringing only the essentials. if you’re headed on a warm-weather getaway or simply interested in seeing what’s in my suitcase (i always love a good packing post myself!), here’s what packed up in my bag for our desert birthday getaway*:
abercrombie button-up cami in white, black & tan stripe (small)
abercrombie high rise mid-length denim shorts in medium wash & white (TTS -26)
mango chambray halter dress (old -similar here, here & here)
american eagle striped midi kimono (one size)
zara bikini top (similar) & target bikini bottoms (medium)
gap leopard slide sandals (sized up 1/2 size)
universal thread woven mules (TTS)
brixton ‘joanna’ straw hat (runs large)
natalie borton jewelry (c/o)
*in addition to these pieces, i’m also packing a sleeveless nightgown and a tank and lounge shorts for sleeping/napping in the room should the heat get too unbearable. i’ll be bringing my new amari active pieces (and running shoes) for a fun photo shoot and upcoming post to wear on an early morning hike along one of the nearby trails.
