four sezane tops for summer

whenever a new sezane collection launches (usually on a sunday morning), i always set my alarm for 12:30am PDT. it may seem crazy but since the company is based in paris, their launch time is nine hours ahead. if i were to wait until my normal waking hour (6:00am our time), i would surely miss out on some of my most coveted pieces. you see sezane stuff goes FAST. for this most recent kick-off to their summer collection, i actually had to refresh my cart a number of times in order to claim the pieces you see below (is it weird to admit that i felt so accomplished after doing so?). when the fruits of my labor arrived a few days later, i couldn’t wait to try them on and style them with items from my existing wardrobe.

milani blouse (2) || i was immediately drawn to the embroidery detail on the milani blouse. as you know, white blouses are my “thing” and i will never tire of adding pretty ones to my wardrobe. the blouse itself is a cotton/linen blend which, while great for summer weather, was probably the most surprising detail. i think i prefer a slightly heavier weight fabric which is why i ultimately ended up returning it. however, if you live in a more humid climate, it could be a great option for when you want to feel a bit fancy but also don’t want to sweat your you know what off. as far as sizing goes, i found it to run true to size. the fit is slightly billowy but with enough shape to tuck into a pair of jeans or trousers.

lucrecia shirt (2) || the lucreica shirt was one of the first pieces i saw from the summer collection and one i immediately placed on my radar. the puff-sleeves and tie-back were right up my alley and of course, another white blouse. unfortunately the lucrecia was so popular it is currently sold out. however, sezane does restocks every wednesday and sunday so put it on your wishlist and check back often to see if your size comes back after a customer return. it’s the quintessential summer top, slightly cropped, in a poplin fabric, with an open back. i paired it with a high-waisted skirt for a dressed-up look, but it would be perfect with high-waisted denim as well. i always wear my nippies nipple covers with tops like this to avoid bra strap lines. in terms of sizing, i personally found the top to run true to size, but if you have a bigger chest, i might consider sizing up as it was a snug fit around my bustline.

luna top (small) || if you buy one top this summer, let it be the luna. i mean, can we talk about the scallop detailing? but really, what makes this piece a dream is the ribbed viscose/polyester fabric. it is so soft and stretchy and the perfect hybrid of your favorite t-shirt and lightweight sweater. it’s currently sold out in black but i would buy it in every color sezane decides to make, it’s that good. the luna is one of those tops that you can dress up or down and layer under everything from a bomber to a blazer. for summer, i love it paired with one of my pairs of cotton shorts and favorite sneakers for that “i’m not a regular mom, i’m a cool mom” kind of look. but throw it on with dark denim and kitten heels and look out, date night. did i mention that you need this top? it runs true to size and has plenty of stretch.

eivissa blouse (2) || now normally i wouldn’t stray from my usual neutral color palette (black, white, beige, and the occasional chambray), but i saw this sea green pleated top paired with matching pants (which i’m hoping get launched soon?) and i loved the entire vibe of it, i knew it had to snag it before it sold out. and guess what? i was right in my instincts because it is currently sold out (wednesdays and sundays, people, keep those eyes peeled for restocks). the pleating is so fun and the bow at the nape of the neck is the perfect feminine touch. it’s made from recycled polyester and just about the lightest, bounciest piece that you’d ever did see. for all of its simplicity, it’s also incredibly elegant. it’s unlike anything in my wardrobe and for that reason, i’m so glad i decided to stray from my usual palette. since it’s almost an a-line shape, i plan on styling it with straighter denim for a balanced look. and like everything else, it runs true to size.
