summer whites with amari active

as a barre instructor and a fitness fanatic, i’m in workout wear 90% of the time. over the years i’ve trial-and-errored my way into finding workout brands that not only offer good fit and festive designs, but more importantly, whose fabrics will stand the grind of daily workouts. all for a fair price! oftentimes it can feel like finding a unicorn so i’m always happy to ascertain new companies -especially those with an empowering message.

today i’m excited to feature a new-to-me brand that i recently discovered via instagram. amari active is a luxury activewear brand empowering women to look and feel like their best self -both during and after their workout. located in san diego (love a local brand!), amari focuses on designing pieces that encourage women to live in a harmonious balance of strength, comfort, and style while also pursuing a balanced and active lifestyle. they believe in the importance of ease and versatility which is why they’ve created an everyday wardrobe for the modern woman, the empowered woman.

what i love most about amari is their ability to marry fashionable and unique designs with trusted quality. for someone who has tried on many a workout top and bottom, i can honestly say that not all leggings are created equal. chic designs don’t always boast the highest quality just as high performance pieces don’t always offer the most fashionable of designs. but somehow amari just gets it right. their capsule collections include timeless pieces in neutral shades that they can be mixed and matched with existing items in your wardrobe ensuring you stay well suited and chic no matter the season.

with the official start of summer just days away, i was excited to try my very first pair of white leggings. similar to white denim, white leggings have always kind of intimidated me. but i fell in love with the clean lines of amari’s blush legging, not to mention the playful mesh detailing along the legs and of course, the high-waisted design. when i slipped them on, i was very impressed by the quality of the fabric as well as its ability to contour my body, giving me a streamlined shape. while i do recommend wearing nude undergarments as a rule of thumb under white pants, i was pleasantly surprised by how opaque these leggings were despite their light hue. if white is not your thing, they also come in black. and price at just over $100, the leggings are comparable to similar designs in the marketplace.

as you know, i can’t resist a frilled sleeve, so i was naturally drawn to the flirty tank with its ruffled detail down the spine. furthermore the faux exposed zipper is a fun juxtaposition to its overt femininity. when i first paired the two pieces together (the leggings and the tank) and showed them to S, he quickly concluded that i resembled a superhero. of all the things he could liken me to, i’d like to think that comparison is one of the best! women are superheroes, aren’t we? i find the top fits snug enough to forgo a sports bra underneath. again, if white is not preferred, the flirty tank also comes in navy (which would also be cute paired with the blush leggings). this piece is a bit more expensive than typical workout tops, but to be honest, i think it could easily pull double duty between your activewear and date night wardrobes. the fabric is similar to a curve-hugging bodysuit and could be paired with distressed denim and a block heel for a casual cool date night look. i’ll be sharing more about how to transition these pieces from the barre studio to your tuesday target run (and days later -for saturday night cocktails) in a future post (and a speedy video!), so stay tuned.

speaking of errands, most days i have a dozen things to do around town after my workout before i head home to finally kick my feet up (and shower). the basic thermal is the perfect “to and from” piece to keep me warm before my early morning workouts and to throw on after a good sweat session. i love its slightly cropped fit and subtle bell sleeves and the fabric is light and buttery on the skin. it also looks chic tied around my waist if the weather warrants a sleeveless situation. similar to the flirty tank, this thermal could easily be paired with a pair of denim shorts and leopard sandals for an effortless weekend look for a late morning trip to the farmer’s market. at under $70, it is on the pricier side for a light-weight pullover, but as i mentioned above, it’s a piece that could easily flow between your workout and weekend wardrobes. when it comes to investment pieces, an item’s versatility factor is everything!

besides these pieces, amari has a full collection of sports bras, capris, and various length tops to outfit your next workout. as i hope to be one myself very soon, expectant mommas can even shop amari’s maternity line with stretchy fabrics and simple designs to flatter your growing bump.

when it comes to staying active, i’ve found comfort is key. looking good and more importantly feeling good in your workout wear can give you the confidence not just in the studio or gym, but as you step back out into the world to take on the rest of your day.

be sure to check out amari’s website and instagram to peruse and shop their beautiful designs. as a thank you to my readers, they are offering 30% off your entire order with the code Shawna30.
