i used to joke during my last months of pregnancy that i only got dressed up for doctor’s visits and it’s proving to be the case with postpartum life as well. today i had my official 6-week post-op check-up and i’m proud to report i got cleared to resume all normal activity -most notably working out (i can’t wait to resume barre workouts from home without modifications -though i’m sure the ab work will be comical at first).
madewell sweater tank (similar here & here) || abercrombie midi skirt (similar) || target universal thread woven mules (TTS) || natalie borton tassel earrings (c/o)
anyway, for today’s big outing (sad but true that a trip to my OB feels like a mini vacation), i decided to put on a typical ‘shawna outfit’ pre-babies. i dug out this high-slit midi skirt and sweater tank from last year and stuffed my ladies into my pre-nursing boobs strapless bra (it lasted about 30 minutes before i gave up), threw on my favorite woven mules and a pair of natalie borton tassel earrings, and voila -mama was stylin’.
as i was looking for a comparable option to this skirt (which i snagged last year), i found quite a few beautiful midi styles perfect for summer and this heat! while i live for a flowy dress during the warmer seasons, a midi skirt and tank combination is equally as comfortable and chic. this one is nearly identical to the one i’m wearing (and comes as a matching set!), and i have my eye on this button-front version whose brown and white pattern would work well to transition into fall (pair it with ankle booties and a long-sleeve tee). a knit skirt is both chic and comfortable and great for pregnancy as it grows with your changing body. this one is such a pretty color and would also be a great option to style for a variety of seasons. and ooh la la, the slit on this style makes it perfect for date night.
