after wearing them daily as part of my uniform in middle and high school, i’ve harbored a great disdain for button-front shirts for years. however, once i became a mother and learned of a button-front shirt’s functionality in terms of nursing, i quickly changed my tune. now i find myself considering a top’s breast-feeding friendliness before hitting “purchase.” i realize i won’t be nursing forever, but for the foreseeable future (aiming for at least six months), it’s important to me to fill my closet with mama-friendly pieces (that means easy access to the ladies, haha).
i initially ordered this cotton top after seeing it in natalie’s mini summer capsule collection. i loved the rich mocha color and how its oversized shape draped on her frame. once it arrived, i was pleasantly surprised by how much i loved it myself! perhaps the 15+ years since my uniform days have finally given me an appreciation for the classic button-down silhouette because i quickly ordered the top in the cream color as well. now i have two nursing-friendly and machine washable blouses to incorporate into my new mama wardrobe and to test their versatility, i decided to style the cocao-colored version five different ways with existing pieces in my closet (i believe all outfits would also work with the cream color). i managed to film a speedy video showcasing all five looks during one of gogo’s (what we call my mom) visits (her extra set of hands is the only way i can maintain this space these days) and it’ll be up on my IGTV channel at 3:00 p.m. PST. in the meantime, links to the outfit pieces (or similar options) are provided below and also featured in the @liketoknow.it app.
