by far my favorite trend of the moment is smocking! the accordion-like detail is not only flattering across a bodice, it also provides dimension to any outfit. it’s feminine without being too frilly and perfect for warm weather as with most pieces, you can go sans bra (let them be free!).

i recently picked up the above top from my favorite online retailer and immediately paired it with my light wash jeans for a perfect juxtaposition of polish and distress. while it’s a tad bit shorter than the tops i normally wear, it plays nicely with high-waisted silhouettes. i plan on remixing it all season long with denim, skirts, and wide leg cropped pants.

of course my newfound affection for all things smocked didn’t end with just one cotton blouse! no, no, no. i immediately ordered two more pieces —this dress and jumpsuit, both of which are currently en route to my front door (i will obviously share my thoughts once they arrive!). but after seeing samantha in this dress on her vacation to la quinta, i’m thinking maybe i need it, too?
