romantic white tops

i decided today that my closet needs more romantic white tops. they look good with everything (denim, shorts, skirts, layered under overalls) and well, they just make me feel feminine and fancy.

the catalyst for this decision was a recent trip to madewell (isn’t that where most sartorial decisions occur?) where i soon found myself in a dressing room falling in love with this embroidered blouse. i loved the billowy silhouette, the puffed sleeves, and of course, the smocked detailing. i could see myself wearing it over and over again with jeans (more on the ones i’m wearing in a minute), under black overalls, paired with denim shorts, and come fall –with faux leather leggings. to me, it feels like an investment piece that i’ll be able to reach for year after year and season after season. needless to say, i’ve made a home for it in my wardrobe and i plan on giving it a few more “friends” over the next few months.

as i start my hunt, i’ve rounded up a few contenders i hope to try and share!

p.s. back to these jeans for 2.5 -they are perhaps some of the more comfortable and flattering pairs of denim i have ever tried. the fit is a hybrid of a skinny jean and a straight leg silhouette with enough stretch to feel both supported and cozy. i sized down one size initially but the salesgirl convinced me to size down one additional size since this particular style tends to stretch out with wear.

i get a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post. thank you for supporting the brands that keep this blog up and running.
