when it comes to mango, i cannot be stopped. so when a couple things i had been eyeing for months suddenly went on super sale, i just couldn’t let them pass me by. plus i just returned two dresses that were big misses so i felt like placing a new order basically cancelled out the last one, right?! perhaps don’t answer that.
linen puff sleeve dress (4/small) || i feel like this dress is polarizing. a few weeks ago i polled my instagram followers for their opinion on whether or not it was cute enough to purchase. the majority consensus was “no” (lol) and while i talked myself out of it at the time, once it went on sale, i felt like it was a sign. i threw it in my cart and never looked back. what can i say? i’m a sucker for a puff sleeve!
when it arrived, i was initially smitten. the sleeves really do have “me” written all over them. but as i twirled around in it, it was clear it was far too baggy to be flattering on my frame and when i checked to see if there was a smaller size available for purchase, i struck out. i debated on keeping it and having it altered but wasn’t sure if i even loved it that much to spend additional money to make it just right. the final verdict came when i finally asked my husband for his opinion… he looked me up and down, paused, and concluded that it “looked like i belonged to a cult.” i laughed and agreed and you know what? sometimes you just need to hear the cold hard truth. i WILL say it would be super cute for a bump/postpartum because it is light and airy (perfect for being pregnant in the summer) and has functional buttons. otherwise, i would definitely suggest sizing down. it’s on sale for $59.99 (mango is offering additional discounts if you purchase 3 or more items!) and also comes in a pretty pink shade.
babydoll collar blouse –floral (4/small) || so after searching for “babydoll collar” shirts on mango’s website, i stumbled upon this floral cutie that was also conveniently on sale. it gave me such doen vibes (one of my biggest brand crushes that remains just a tad out of my price range), that i debated on buying it in both the yellow and blue print, but ultimately i settled with the mustardy florals.
i was instantly drawn to the almost crinkly cotton fabric (it’s so lightweight and looks like it’ll withstand multiple trips through the washing machine) and once i removed it from its packaging, it was even better in person than it appeared online. i love the muted tones of the print and the collar, of course. it does run a tad big through the bodice so i will be sending this one back and just repurchased it in a 2/XS instead. i love it with my momjean denim shorts and it’ll be great front tucked into jeans and paired with booties as we transition into fall. i can also see it tucked in and belted with my white or ochre-color wide leg crop pants. for under $40, it’s a great versatile blouse for your wardrobe!
p.s. i also purchased this babydoll collar blouse in white in both the 4/small and 2/XS because now i’m nervous it, too will run big like the floral top did. techincally this top is not part of the sale (womp, wom), but i saw it on julia berolzheimer’s website and anything endorsed by her is worth paying full price for (i mean within reason, of course). i went hard on babydoll (or peter pan-style) collars in like 2012 so i feel like i’ve been a little apprehensive to return to the ultra feminine style. but as i mentioned before, i’m on a mission to add all of the white romantic tops to my wardrobe so i think this one will fit in nicely when it arrives. i will share my thoughts in my instagram stories when it does!
i get a small commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post. thank you for supporting the brands that keep this blog up and running.
