i like big collars and i cannot lie

just call me wendy because i’m BACK IN on peter pan collars, guys. i exhausted the trend in the mid-aughts, much to my husband’s (then boyfriend) chagrin. so after deciding to retire the oversized collar from my closet, i set my sights on other feminine details like puffed sleeves and ruffles instead.

then after nearly a decade, i fell in love with this blouse. it felt modern with the black bow and something that i could dress up or down depending on the occasion. when it arrived, i grew an even deeper appreciation for it when i decided to layer it under a sweater. BAM. this is how to make my knits feel new again, i thought. not only would the underlayer add warmth in cooler temperatures, the collar and bow added a feminine touch i’m often missing from a simple sweater and jeans combination.

and then i saw emily of cupcakes and cashmere layer a removable collar over her sweater on her recent trip to london and i immediately began a google search of similar options. a detachable collar is such a low stakes way to make your fall/winter outfits feel fresh and new. a little pilgrim chic, yes, but new nonetheless. now that i’ve rekindled my love for a statement collar, i’ve gone searching the interwebs for an additional options. here’s what i’ve found:
