while i’ve admired sezane for years, i’ve only had personal experience with them since last october (when i began my partnership). so when i learned they were releasing some of their summer pieces from collections past, i was excited to see what i had been missing out on for the past decade. per usual, i set my alarm for 12:30am (collections launch 9:30am paris time) and got to work. after scrolling for almost two hours, i ended up with five pieces. full disclosure –most everything is currently sold out. however, i have a strong feeling return merchandise will be trickling in over the coming weeks so set an alert and keep your eyes out should your size come back in stock.
matty shirt in denim (2) || you know i live for a denim shirt so when i spotted the matty was included in the archived collection, i worked hard to make it mine. that meant refreshing my online cart a zillion times before i finally found success. when i was finally able to see it in person, it was a little different than it appeared online. the wash was darker than expected as were the snap closures in place of traditional buttons. obviously it was the ruffled detail that really drew me in initially, but on my frame, the style felt more cowboy than chic. furthermore the overall fit of the shirt was on the smaller side -mostly under the underarm area. if i were to reorder, i would definitely size up but because it’s currently sold out, i’ll take it as a sign that it isn’t meant to live in my closet.
rosa blouse in ecru (2) || this cute tank was probably the item i was most excited to try. the scalloped detail and the eyelet fabric screamed “WEAR ME THIS SUMMER!” and i knew it would pair well with any one of my pairs of jeans. i’m happy to report she’s a winner! the scoop neckline is super flattering and i find it looks best tucked into the waistband of a high-waisted bottom. it’s fitted around the bust but cuts away from the body making it extremely flattering and fits true to size. i’ll wear it with my nippie covers to avoid bra straps and despite the slightly peek-a-boo fabric, it’s not see-through at all.
salina blouse in cream (2) || *pretends to be shocked* LOOK another white/ecru-colored feminine blouse! i mean, it’s basically my uniform at this point so i had to add another one to my arsenal. and the salina is really pretty, guys. the blouse has a subtle ruffle around the shoulders and is made from a lace-like fabric. the cuffs are elastic which i actually prefer to a button-closure. similar to the blouse above, it is slightly sheer but not so much that it would require an additional bottom layer. the fabric is substantial but not too heavy, the kind of goldilocks style that i will definitely be able to wear all year long. i think it’s a perfect compliment to my horseshoe jeans (see the top image) but it will also be perfect under overalls and with denim shorts. the blouse fits true to size and also comes in black.
adele jumper in cream (small) || if you’ve been here for a minute, you may be familiar with my aversion for the humble turtleneck. i did entertain a striped turtle last fall but i ended up selling it on poshmark soon thereafter because i just couldn’t get over feeling like an imposter in the style. while this adele jumper has the ever so slightest mock neck, it was enough to turn me off completely. i loved the ruffled sleeve detail and the fabric is a delicious viscose stretch, but overall the cut was a miss for yours truly. the small was a perfect fit and while cropped, it was long enough to tuck into the front of my jeans. sadly this knit will be returned.
rosario jumpsuit (2) || given my long torso, i really took a gamble with this jumpsuit, but the ruffled bib just got me, guys. as expected it was a little too short for my inseam, but you know what? not that bad. the fit is adorable and i actually love it paired with the salina blouse. it fits true to size and the straps button in the back almost like suspenders. if you’re shorter-torsoed or on the petite side, please order this if your size comes back in stock. it’s so cute but with the fit not impeccable, i have to send it back. it was worth a shot!
a big thank you to sezane for gifting me such gorgeous pieces that will live happily in my wardrobe for years to come.
