you ever have one of those full-circle moments?
in my mid-late 20’s i used to write for darling, the magazine turned lifestyle brand that has built meaningful community around a shared mission: to shift cultural mindsets on beauty and self-esteem. they were kind enough to provide me a forum on which to articulate the issues plaguing my most transitional life stage —including a piece on the topic of turning 30, a scary number that turned out to be my most favorite decade yet.
fast forward nearly 10 years and darling re-entered my life in a different forum -this time instead of words, it was through fashion. they recently launched a clothing line filled with pieces to build a sustainable wardrobe and more importantly, to make women feel their most assured selves. darling was the first magazine to not photoshop women’s skin or bodies. with their capsule collection, they are continuing their narrative around beauty apart from vanity by helping women dress with confidence.
as a mom of a daughter (and a son!), garnering a sense of pride and comfortability in delilah in her skin is of utmost importance to me. even at three years of age, she already has a strong personal style and loves choosing her own outfit everyday. i’m so glad there are brands like darling that she can eventually look to for clothing created specifically to feel her most confident self.
