thirty days of thankfulness: 11/8/13

i’ve joked before that life is too short to wear boring clothes. but really, you guys. it is. it’s also too short to wear designs that are ill-fitting or unflattering or just don’t make you feel like pumped to dive into your closet every morning on the hunt for the perfect thing to wear. i’ve done the disposable clothing thing. and while it’s fun to save money initially on tops that might survive at most three runs through the rinse cycle, i’ve learned that sometimes saving initially means losing in the long-run (i feel like there’s a larger life lesson somewhere in there, too). disposable clothing sometimes makes you feel disposable. and who wants to feel like that?

enter j.crew. i mean, it’s no secret that nearly half (er, more like 3/4) of my wardrobe hails from this virginia-based retail chain. how do i love j.crew? let me count the ways. i love j.crew for its classic cuts and signature styles and for the sales, my goodness, the sales! i love knowing that i can get last year’s trends at j.crew factory at a fraction of the price as the regular retail store and that they come packaged all pretty right to my front door. and i love that they’re really into the peter-pan collar right now. but mostly i love that i feel good in their clothes and that that intangible feeling of what i like to call “outfit-invincibility” is something i am more than willing to spend the few extra pennies on in order to keep.

so today i am thankful for j.crew and perhaps more specifically, the j.crew factory online store. i am thankful for a company that makes clothing that i love to wear. finding my style stride has been a labor of love over the course of the past few years, but with the help of jenna lyons and the rest of the brains behind the label, i feel as though i’ve finally arrived at my most fashionable self.
