merry christmas. perhaps you’re reading this little note from the comfort of your couch or better yet, bed, cozied up under a sea of blankets and fleece pajamas. perhaps you’re sipping a cup of warm coffee or hot chocolate or maybe green tea and perhaps, yes, there is even christmas music faintly playing in the background. actually, can i come over? that all sounds like the perfect little set-up.
just kidding.
right now i’m probably sneaking in another episode of friday night lights before heading over to my parents’ house for brunch and stockings and that afternoon matinee of ron burgundy and the gang. i’m enjoying the stillness of this morning as the dawn is breaking and the light of the day is beginning to seep through the cracks of the blinds and the skylight above.
usually i’m spending the first few moments of this holiday morning in my childhood home, wiping the sleep from my eyes as i head down the stairs where i’m greeted by an well-caffeinated mother who has been up for hours and has been patiently awaiting the arousal from my slumber. but this year i’m grateful to spend these first minutes of the day alone, in this little house i’ve made my home.
so however you choose to spend your december 25th, i hope it’s filled with the warmth and love of family and friends. may you not overlook the true reason for this season and take time to reflect upon the wonders of His love.
i found this irish blessing on one of the blogs i regularly peruse and it was so sweet, i thought i’d share it, too:
may the road rise up to meet you,
may the wind be always at your back,
may the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields,
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
merry christmas to all and to all a good night.
