happy friday, y’all! i can’t believe it’s nearly the end of march already, how is easter just three weeks away? mmm, cadburry eggs…
right, back to my point.
it has been another full week and it looks like the spring/summer-like temps are hanging in town a little longer -perfect timing for a weekend of outdoor activities: a second wedding, a little photo shoot with mom, some spring cleaning, and of course, S and my weekly tennis match. i can’t wait!
so without further ado, here’s a glimpse of my favorite things from the week:
one || shawbeedoo will defeat you. as you know, march madness officially started yesterday and in the spirit of staying engaged in the tournament, S and i both made brackets. without consulting each other, we ended up picking the same final two teams (kentucky vs. duke) and overall winner in the end (kentucky). adorable. anyway, i’m not much of a basketball enthusiast and the only other bracket i’ve filled out had to do with the bachelor, but i’m hopeful my bracket -called “shawbeedoo will defeat you” will serve me well over the next few weeks.
*edited to add: after yesterday’s upsets, my bracket is basically toast. it was fun while it lasted!
two || nice to meat you. as a thank you for letting them stay at chateau shawna last weekend, B and her fiance gifted me some delicious additions for my kitchen –steak & burger seasoning and the most delicious barbecue sauce from nashville. both products by the historic lynchburg tennesee whiskey brand, S and i used them in preparing sunday supper and quickly fell in love. despite being suited for meat, the seasoning also works well with vegetables and starches. we sprinkled a generous helping of it over a batch of red potatoes before roasting them with olive oil in a saute pan, and used the sauce to coat our chicken thighs before S cooked them on his grill. if i were a betting lady (which i am, see above), i’d say that bottle of sauce is gone by easter. why is bbq so good?
three || love at first step. while perusing madewell’s latest batch of spring arrivals, i stumbled upon this season’s collection of footwear. every year it seems, i have searched fruitlessly to find a good pair of camel-colored leather sandals. sure, i have my fair share of wedges, but when it comes to that classic shoe that can be paired with everything from denim to pencil skirts, i’ve always come up short. that is, until i landed upon madewell’s crisscross frida sandal in dark cocoa. at $158, it’s certainly an investment, but with spring and summer right around the corner, i’ll certainly get my money’s worth (and then some) with how often i’ll sport them around town.
four || cookies to-go. i was fortunate enough to take a little field trip to the bridges club at rancho santa fe for a work meeting earlier this week. in addition to the great ambiance, the good company of my industry colleagues, stimulating topics of conversation, and the chance to mix-up my normal work day routine, one of the best things about the experience was the fact that as we were leaving, the membership director and general manager gifted us with homemade cookies tied up in little cellophane baggies as a sweet parting gift. it was such a nice touch, like the cherry atop an already delicious sundae. i happily brought the cookies home for S as a little weekday surprise, and filed away this gesture for future personal use. because let’s be honest, no matter how old you are (or how little gluten you consume), i think everyone can agree that chocolate chip cookies will always be well-received.
five || unwrap a smile. in case you missed it, will ferrell dressed up as everyone’s favorite snack cake spokesgirl, little debbie to conduct his interview on the tonight show with jimmy fallon on wednesday evening and it was, as expected, completely random but absolutely hilarious. the best thing is, jimmy had no idea of will’s antics until he arrived on stage in character. needless to say, it made for a memorable evening.
six || #madetobemckennas. it’s deja vu, wedding round two. S and i are getting back into wedding mode once again this week as L and M are finally getting hitched THIS AFTERNOON. i’m heading out of work a little early to get beautified before showtime. thankfully, S’s bow ties arrived earlier this week so he’ll definitely pairing one of them with his new grey suit. now if only i can figure out what i’m wearing!
enjoy another gorgeous weekend, kids!
xoxo
