now that it’s “officially” spring (though i’m convinced we never truly had a winter), i can’t get enough of fresh flowers. i find myself pouring over the floral display at trader joe’s on S and my weekly visit, admiring the bouquets of cheery daffodils and pastel-colored tulips, and on our most recent stop by home depot’s garden department, i swear the smell of potting soil had me giddy. what is it about spring blooms that just makes life a little more happy?
recently, i’ve found myself smitten with a specific plant, not necessarily readily available at the neighborhood flower stand. the beautiful blooming bougainvillea. everywhere i look it seems, they are climbing trellises and perched on pergolas, adding pops of color in every shade of pink. in fact, there is a bougainvillea plant in my very own neighborhood whose fuchsia petals are simply stunning this time of year. in stumbling across a recent article on camille styles featuring the team from darling magazine, i also realized what a great backdrop it would be for a future outfit post (note to self, do a photo shoot soon).

i’m curious, what’s your favorite spring flower?

Their colors can be stunning. And they have so many varieties now. The ones that climb are what most people imagine but they have many that are used as ground covers. And, with proper pruning, they can be planted in pots. A photo shoot with the splash of their playful colors would be lovely. Enjoy your day.
