happy friday my dears. is it just me or did this week feel like it flew by? sort of? no, not at all? at any rate, the fact is that it’s FRIDAY so who cares how quickly it arrived, we’re just all pumped it’s here. in a few short hours these overgrown roots will get some much needed TLC (aren’t hair appointments the best?) and tomorrow S and i plan on making some major strides with #operationredecoration. i’m feeling extra productive and motivated these days so i can’t wait to knock out a few of our pending to do’s.

on that note, here are the things that had me smiling this week. enjoy!

one || style bee. instagram has found me down many a rabbit hole over the past few years. usually i end up on some d-list celebrity’s page sifting through shameless product plugs or duck-faced selfies. but every once in a while i stumble upon an account worth a follow. recently it was the visual menagerie authored by lee vosburgh the girl behind style bee, my newest blog obsession. lee’s style is simple, classic, sophisticated, and chic. armed with neutrals and a fall capsule wardrobe, the canadian fashion blogger is an inspiration in minimalist dressing.

two || stand by you. in “songs that won’t get out of my head” news, the same girl who gave you your “fight song,” (and the anthem to ford commercials), rachel platten, is back with her sophomore single, “stand by you.” and you guys, it’s really good. in fact, i may or may not have car danced to it about three different times this week.

three || so-long selfies. it’s the end of an era. very soon the shawna leeann fashion selfie will be but a distant memory because as an early christmas present, S bought me/us our very own photography studio kit! that means things are about to get a lot more professional-looking around these parts. i can’t wait to test it out.

four || trojan war. so technically this happened last week, but i’m still finding reasons to talk about it with co-workers at lunch time, so i figured it deserved a mention. after seeing a commercial for ESPN’s latest installment of 30 for 30, “trojan war” featuring the trojan dynasty under pete carroll’s reign, S and i were intrigued. so we DVR’ed it and found time to view it last weekend. watching the hour and a half-long special made me feel both nostalgic and old since i was lucky enough to attend a few games throughout their notable seasons. USC fan or not, it’s an entertaining watch if you can catch a replay.

five || everlane i thought it would be and more. i mentioned last week that i placed my first order at everlane. well the package arrived yesterday and after tearing it open and modeling all of the garments, it’s safe to say i’m obsessed. not only is each piece well-crafted, their customer service is extraordinary (they facebook message you when your order has shipped and when it has been delivered!). i can’t wait to feature the two tops and a dress in future outfit posts. if you’re looking for basics, everlane is your (online) store.

six || something doesn’t feel right. while this week has definitely been filled with many warm fuzzies, a black cloud descended when i learned that my favorite podcast the right reasons may have been silenced once and for all. with reports of trouble at grantland, one half of the dynamic duo of juliet & jacoby (cough, juliet, cough) has already moved on for a new venture with former grantland head, bill simmons. to say i’m devastated is an understatement. the only consolation i can find is in the news that the second round of serial is set to start in november. my friday afternoon commutes can breathe a sigh of relief.

have a wonderful weekend, darlings. stay tuned for a fun announcement bright and early monday morning.

xoxo
