happy hump day, y’all! we’re halfway through plaid week and i don’t know about you but i’m feeling much more into the holiday spirit. the weather here in san diego hasn’t been very reminiscent of fall, so shooting these looks in the comfort of my own home has allowed me to at least pretend it’s sweater weather. today’s featured item is a plaid vest, a more unconventional way to incorporate the trend if you ask me, but a fun one nonetheless. truth be told, i borrowed this vest from my mom who purchased it last season to spice up her own winter wardrobe. isn’t it fun when you have a hip mom whose closet you can occasionally borrow from? if only we wore the same shoe size…
you’ll notice i went a bit more unconventional with my styling. despite what they may have told you in grade school, sometimes it’s okay to break the rules. the fashion rules, that is. after seeing it in madewell’s fall campaign, i felt inspired to double up on my plaid in the look for day. layering similar patterns adds dimension and interest to an outfit. speaking of layering, if the weather hasn’t turned too crisp, a vest is a great alternative to a jacket if you’re grabbing something to keep you warm from the car to the restaurant on your next date night.
