as evidenced last week (here & here), i’ve fallen hard for gingham this season -especially in classic black and white. despite being a print, it’s demure enough to almost act as a neutral, making it crazy versatile for a number of occasions. since pairing it with my cashmere sweater and pumps last friday, i’ve also styled it two more times -once as an alternative to workout clothes when i’m running around town on a sunday afternoon (giant hat = camouflage for dirty hair) and once for a ‘business casual’ look for the office because everyone deserves a break from pencil skirts and pumps every now and again, right? pattern aside, this skirt has two elements i always look for in my garments -1) pockets and 2) twirlability. check and check (get it?!).
gingham midi skirt for day
i tied my t-shirt to create more of a waistline. second to the front-tuck, knotting t-shirts or button-downs at the waist is a perfect way to create an hourglass silhouette.

Hi Emily! Any skirt that has pockets is a winner in my book, I’m glad you agree 🙂 Thanks so much for your sweet words! Just checked out your blog, how fun you’re in Melbourne! I went to the Australian Open a couple years ago and fell in love with that city. Thanks again for stopping by! xoxo
