i mentioned last week that i treated myself to two little goodies from madewell’s recent summer sale. since they didn’t have my sizes in the store, i had to order them online so when they arrived to my doorstep, i was like a kid on christmas eve in anticipation. i don’t know about you, but whenever i make a new purchase, i immediately plot how i can style and wear it next. in this case, my new eyelet tank and black and white dotted d’orsay flats naturally went so well together, all that was needed to complete the look was a pair of high-rise jeans and my favorite black felt hat.

i love the eyelet detail on this tank particularly, not only does it add visual interest to an otherwise simple black blouse, it also adds an element of sexiness -and when the summer temperatures arrive like they they did last weekend –some breathing room. i love how well the peplum hemline pairs with my high-waisted denim, but it would be equally as cute with a pencil skirt or high-rise denim shorts.
