let me introduce you to my new favorite silhouette –the wide-leg trouser.
after snagging these sailor pants (coming to the blog tomorrow!) about a month ago, i jumped on madewell’s recent 30% off promo and picked up a pair of their caldwell wide-leg trousers as well. since i do a bulk of my shopping online, i rely heavily on customer reviews. aside from a few rogue items that ended up defying the negative commentary, nearly 100% of the time the reviews are spot on. so when i saw that over two dozen fellow madewell customers lauded them with five star reviews, i figured they were worth a try.
and let me tell you, my fellow madewell addicts did not let me down. i basically feel like heidi klum in these babies. legs. for. days.

full disclosure, the inspiration for this outfit came from a post i saw on my favorite blog, cup of jo. coj recently featured mckenzie raley, a plus-size model and creator of the lingerie brand, land of women, in their week of outfits series and i loved her monochromatic look so much, i decided to recreate it for myself. i love the chicness an all black ensemble can convey. it feels very grown-up and fuss-free. since i’m all about a cognac accent these days, i added in pops of light brown with a leather belt at my waist (instant trick to define the smallest part of you), my natalie borton “camille” necklace, and my favorite madewell bag.
i love how easy breezy (cover girl) this outfit is. i could definitely wear this to the office or out to lunch with girlfriends on a weekend afternoon. i actually sported this weekend to church on sunday morning. given their weight and fabric, they might actually become a great go-to travel pant. i would wear them on the plane with a cashmere sweater and dress them up with a ruffled blouse once we landed. y’all i’ll never give up my skinny jeans, but these trousers have certainly made me jump on the wide-leg silhouette. you’ll definitely be seeing these babies again!
p.s. can we talk about the trees in my neighborhood? they are the most vibrant burnt orange and cherry red right now!

Stunning… seems you’ve hit your stride. The location is gorgeous and certainly sets off the outfit. I love how you’ve paired the majority of black with just enough warm cognac to soften the look but still stay true to neutrals. Just lovely.

We can’t get over the trees in our neighborhood, they’re stunning! You’re too kind. I’m so happy to have found this pant silhouette, they make me feel like a million bucks. xoxo
