this friday, i’m in love with
the idea of monochrome || as i think about making outfits for our honeymoon (less than two months away!), i am inspired by this recent article i read on madewell’s blog. stylist lisa suggests sticking to one color for the entire trip. i’ve always tried to keep a neutral palette when packing for ease of making outfits once we arrive to our destination, but i’ve never thought of picking a solitary shade and running with it. i’m intrigued by this concept and while it may not work for our two-week getaway, i’d like to try it for a future mini vacation. based on my current closet, i’d say picking black or blue would be my best bet ;).
j.crew’s latest batch of new arrivals || speaking of packing, i want one of everything in this vacation packing list. the round-up features many pieces from j.crew’s latest crop of new arrivals -including these now sold-out pants (which i’m trying my hardest to track down), this skirt, and metallic slide sandals. i don’t care what the critics say, j.crew is killing it lately and i have the summer wardrobe to prove it. with my birthday right around the corner, i am anticipating a little celebratory shopping. i’ve got my eye on this tee, this skirt, this tote, these pants, and this dress.
rx bars || i feel like i’m late to the party on this one, but i recently discovered rx bars and they are DELICIOUS. not only that but they’re sold at both of my favorite grocery stores (trader joe’s and sprouts) so it makes snagging a few to have around the house super convenient. if you aren’t familiar with them, they’re basically a protein-packed version of a lara bar composed of only a handful of all-natural ingredients. i’ve only sampled the peanut butter and maple sea salt flavors but i’m definitely going to look for the peanut butter chocolate and chocolate chip varieties on my next grocery run.
ankle-tie sandals || i swear everyone and their mother owns these madewell lace-up sandals but i’m still not convinced they’ll be flattering on my size 9.5 feet. hence the reason i’ve held off purchasing them. but madewell recently came out with a version with a straight-across toe strap (as opposed to one that fits in between your toes) and i think it might be the better way for me to go. i’m still looking for another pair to take with me to quebec city and these look comfy enough to navigate the city’s cobblestone streets. oh and since we’re talking about madewell, they also released a ton of new pieces this week and i’m currently swooning over this skirt (probably too short on me), this maxi dress, this eyelet top, these shorts, this straw bag and this adorable clutch.
favorite outfits from the week include: liz’s striped maxi dress, molly’s peach flutter dress, all of kate’s outfits from her trip to l.a., and marissa’s blue linen dress (that i also purchased and can’t wait to wear all summer long!)
a sneak peek of what’s coming next week:
my favorite technicolor dream wall
and the rest is TBD as of now. i’ve had major car issues the past two weeks so we’re trying to get that sorted out.
three things i’m looking forward to this weekend:
take out sushi
a coffee date with my momma (and the almond milk cappuccino from peets!)
a pedicure!
and in case you missed it, here’s what appeared on the blog this week:
adventures with shawna leeann || exploring la jolla
midi dresses for spring occasions
it’s supposed to be in the 80’s this weekend around my neighborhood and i can’t wait to take full advantage of it. hope it’s sunny wherever you are!

Oh, how I’ve missed visiting your site. And I open it to “It’s Friday” and that makes it all the more special. It’ll take a while to get caught up.
I love the black maxi dress… it has a nice flow. The straw bag is really cute. But the vacation clutch is darling. Great picks.
