this friday, i’m in love with…

our new leesa mattress || to me, nothing feels more adult than buying a new mattress. not only are mattresses expensive, they’re are also a lot of things to consider when landing upon the best one for your sleeping needs. besides the larger size (YES to a cal king), S and i wanted something with a bit more cush so we opted for a style with memory foam. after hearing ads about them on my favorite podcast (true story), we settled upon a leesa mattress. though it’s an online company (the mattress literally arrived shrink wrapped in a long skinny box), they are also available to assess in person in many west elm showrooms. we took a trip to our local store and laid on it before concluding it was the right one for us! after about a week sleeping on it, i can attest that so far so great!

jaci marie spring presets || while i’ve worked hard to continue to grow my instagram following and cultivate an aesthetically pleasing feed, i realize there’s always room for improvement. after going back and forth about it for months, i finally bit the bullet and purchased a set of presets to edit my photos -especially my iphone photos (which don’t always look as good as the ones taken on our DSLR camera). what’s a preset, you ask? it’s basically a set of edits in lightroom (a photo editing app) that you can apply to a raw photo that makes it look amazing. by using the same edits consistently, your photos begin to look uniform (in a good way). in fact, i used one of the presets to edit the featured photo above. after admiring her instagram feed forever, i purchased a pack from jaci marie. i am SO pleased with how my photos have been turning out and i can’t wait to continue to create a more cohesive instagram feed. anyway, if you’re in the market for good editing tools, i highly recommend her presets.

being serena || i’m a little late to the party on this one, but we recently got HBO so S can watch the final season of game of thrones. while i don’t join him on his jon snow-watching adventures, i have taken advantage of HBO’s other premium programming -including their five-part series called being serena documenting the tennis star’s life in the past year and a half -the birth of baby pia, wedding to alexis ohanian, and her journey back to tennis post-partum. i cried no less than four times throughout the five-part docuseries and my already strong affections for the GOAT grew 10-fold. she really is the best in every sense of the word. if you’re a tennis fan, a serena fan, or just want to feel empowered, especially as a female, go watch this STAT.

in my online shopping cart: so full disclosure, i’ve been on a tiny bit of an online shopping spree lately (whoopsies). the reason i don’t feel as bad about it is that usually i don’t end up keeping about 75% of the pieces i purchase. it’s just easier for me to do my shopping online as opposed to in person and then if need be, i do one big trip to the mall for returns. ANYWAY, all that is to say that i have a few packages on their way to me and fingers crossed at least a few of the items work for our upcoming getaway in june. there are SO many cute things for late spring/early summer right now. i just ordered two of these camis and my very first bodysuit (i’m very interested to see how it’ll fit this long torso). while this dress is on back order, this one should arrive first thing next week.

favorite outfits from the week include: shannon’s dress (and her ready-to-pop baby bump), kendi’s polka dots, crystalin’s overalls, jess’ white blouse, liz’s dress & booties & natalie’s striped cami (seeing it on her made me order it for myself!).

a sneak peek of what’s coming next week:

i plan on styling my newest pair of jeans for our saturday date night!

three things i’m looking forward to this weekend/next week:

the search for sconces

oh hi, remember me? i can’t believe i let a full month pass by since a friday post! time is a silly little thief, i tell you. after an intermittent posting schedule, i won’t lie, it felt good to publish four blog posts this week. hopefully you enjoyed them! i’m trying my best to have a more consistent presence here, especially as we move into summer and our social schedule warrants styling some cute looks. anyway, as far as life away from the blog goes, it’s pretty lovely right now. S and i continue to make little improvements on the house (we’re really into gardening right now) and believe it or not are already coming up on our year anniversary of living in the new abode. with the temperatures heating up, we just installed a pull-down shade to our patio cover so we can gear up for al fresco dining (i live for grilling season). other than that, we’re still on the road to baby but with a less frenetic energy than what has somewhat clouded the first quarter of the year. i know God has it in the cards for us, we just have to trust His timing. less stress, more happiness is my current motto and it has truly revolutionized my attitude lately. with that, i hope you have a wonderful and blessed easter sunday and i look forward to seeing you back next week.

xoxo
