as a native southern californian, “may grey” is a topic i know all too well. while most of the country starts to see the first signs of summer, san diego is usually covered in pockets of marine layer and cloudy skies this time of year. i suppose it’s the trade-off of having gorgeous weather all year round, right?

so with may grey comes opportunities to revisit a few pieces from my cold-weather wardrobe -like this bow-tie sleeve sweater from last winter (last seen here). i paired it with my striped wide-leg pants and simple nude pumps for a dinner out with S and my parents to celebrate my mom’s birthday.

before our meal, we wandered the grounds of the inn at rancho santa fe, a hotel and event space in the heart of the village of rancho santa fe. in fact, they were hosting a wedding that evening out on the lawn. the gardens were in full bloom, with dozens of roses, hydrangeas, jacaranda trees, and dreamy bougainvillea. it was the perfect setting to snap a few photos and later retire for a glass of port and decaf coffees.
