now i know i wasn’t going to buy too many off-the-shoulder pieces this season, but i caved and bought a second garment in the style. whoopsies!
i had admired this chambray dress from j.crew’s summer collection ever since i saw it modeled in this post on their blog (btw, did you know j.crew has a blog?!), so when it went on sale last weekend, i was sure to scoop it up quickly. what i love about this particular style is both the feminine detailing (the bow-tie shoulder is right up my alley) and the fact that its a midi length -something i always look for at just a hair under 5′ 7″ with an affinity for wearing high heels ;). it’s a dressed-up version of an everyday denim dress, perfect for summer date nights with my husband. yet, i can already think of how i’d remix it with my new hobes sneakers (more on them in a future post) and a cotton bandana tied in my hair.

besides the dress, you may notice i’m wearing a different pair of earrings than my usual oversized pearls! these tasseled beauties are my newest piece from natalie borton’s collection. after the success of her tassel necklaces and bracelets, natalie moved into the world of earrings some months ago and the “bridget” is the perfect statement piece to dress up a casual t-shirt and jeans, or compliment your favorite summer dress. i’ll admit that i gave up wearing dangly earrings years ago, but i was pleasantly surprised by how much i enjoyed having a little pizzazz on my ear, especially when wearing my hair back in a low bun. i opted for a neutral grey, but natalie just released the bridget in a stunning poppy red, which would be the perfect for the upcoming 4th of july holiday!
