with the end of this heatwave nowhere in sight, it’s hard to even think about my fall wardrobe, but i swear we’ll blink and it’ll be pumpkin spice everything. so in preparation of building up my cold(er) weather staples, i’ve been scouring the interwebs to find the best of the best. below are the items i’m currently crushing on as we head into the most wonderful season of the year:
j.crew merino cold-shoulder sweater || i love the two-tone detail of this sweater and the peek-a-poo shoulder detail that gives it a little character. i’d pair this with white jeans (yes, even after labor day) and accent with cognac -perhaps these mules (see further down)?
j.crew striped button-up with ruffles || given my love for ruffles, it should come as no surprise that i have my eye on this striped button-up. i particularly love the brightness of this shade of blue which i think would pair perfectly with a variety of washes of denim -even my trusty grey skinny jeans. it’s also dressy enough for the office, but yet still playful enough for a casual weekend outfit.
madewell province cross-back pullover || every season i keep my eyes peeled for a new sweater or two to add to my collection -one with a classic silhouette that will last year after year. with an abundance of grey and black knits in my collection, i was immediately drawn to the olive shade of this light-weight version with a flirty asymmetrical cut in the back. i love how it’s styled on madewell’s website –with a midi skirt in a similar mustard shade (all about that monochrome), but i’d probably pair it with my everlane crops or one of the many pairs of striped pants i own :).
madewell gemma mule in leather || i have avoided the mule trend for a while since it never felt quite like “me” (maybe too tomboyish?) but after living in slide sandals all summer, i am finding the convenience of a slip-on shoe very intriguing. the latest style from madewell’s fall collection feels a little less masculine and more in line with my personal style, especially in the classic english saddle shade. the great thing about this flat is that it would be complimentary both a skinny and a wide-leg silhouette of denim, which means i’d probably live in them for most of the fall.
everlane wide leg crop in olive (coming august 17th) || after recently discovering the goodness that is everlane’s wide leg crop pants, i’m super excited about their upcoming launch of four new colors -including a rust color and military green. i’ve been searching for a good olive-colored chino for a while now so i’m hopeful i’ll love these pants just in much in a different shade.
jeffrey campbell cromwell cutout western boot || i’m oddly drawn to the white version of this western-style bootie! in all reality, i’d probably go for a more practical color like the taupe suede, but i love the cut-out detail and the low heel. i’d wear them with midi skirts now and with wide-leg crops as the temperatures drop.
madewell transport tote || this coveted bag certainly isn’t new for the fall season (it has collected 787 glowing reviews on madewell’s website over the last four years!), but after recently officially/legally becoming mrs. rivera, i’m thinking about treating myself to a new tote -monogrammed with my new initials. i have many friends who own this bag and who proudly sing its praises -especially the mommas who swear it holds everything from diapers and matchbox cars to wallets and makeup bags. p.s. this color is so pretty!
