there are some flowers that you can’t help but smile when you see. for me, it’s the humble sunflower that gets me grinning. they’re just so happy with their vibrant yellow petals and long spindly stems.

at just $3.99 at trader joe’s, a bright bunch of sunflowers was just what the doctor ordered after a long and tiring week. i grabbed them as we set out to shoot before an early dinner since they complimented my shorts and added the pop of color i was looking for to an otherwise neutral look. i had this location in mind (an empty lot that i pass nearly every morning on my way to work) so i opted for a more bohemian style of outfit, pairing my eyelet top with shorts and cowboy boots and a giant straw hat.

 

 

one of my favorite ways to meld my summer style into fall is to pair long-sleeve shirts or heavier knits with shorts. it ensures i get a little warmth while still letting my legs breathe before they’re covered in skinny jeans again.
