you guys, after trying on at least a dozen pairs (or more!), i’ve FINALLY found a pair of overalls that fits and flatters my body and i never want to take them off.

after a handful of friends sang their praises, i decided to try on this pair of skinny overalls from madewell. from my experience with the brand, non-blue denim styles tend to offer a more flexible of a fit so i was hopeful this pair might be more accommodating for my notoriously long torso. as luck may have it, the suspender-esque silhouette was just what i needed. instead of having a longer bib, these overalls have a higher pant rise instead (the side zipper is key). though subtle, this change was exactly what was necessary for a long-waisted gal to find the overalls of her dreams. besides the playful criss-cross back, i love that madewell went with a washed black color as well as a raw cut hem.

 

 

since overalls tend to err on the masculine side, i decided to add a feminine element by pairing them with a ruffle-sleeve eyelet top. i opted for ankle-strap sandals over flats since it was quite warm (and i had just gotten a pedicure), though i can’t wait to remix this look in the fall with a longer-sleeved eyelet top and leopard flats. now that i have a life full of casual style awaiting me, i anticipate that i’ll wear these overalls about 87 more times before the year ends. don’t be surprised if these babies show up on the blog a few more times as we head into the fall season. if ever there was a time to jump on the overalls train, it’s now. do yourself a favor and snag these ASAP. personally i think a black pair of overalls is more versatile than a blue denim pair. and maybe a little less farmer-y, too (she could be a farmer in those clothes -name that movie!).

*a note about sizing -i’m in the small, though they are a hair big in the waist. i’m told that like most denim with stretch, they may loosen up over time. while i may have wanted to size down to the x-small, i was concerned about having enough torso length, so depending on how tall you are, you may want to try on your normal size and one size down to determine which version is right for you.
