hi.
have you missed me? i know, i’ve missed me, too.
just kidding.
seriously though, it’s been a whole week since i’ve contributed to the blogosphere and i must admit, it’s been a bit strange.
but peculiarity aside, i feel as though it was very necessary for me to “un-plug” for a bit. while i love y’all, i also love life out from behind the computer screen.
therefore that’s precisely how i’ve spent the last seven days -outside, in the fresh air, amongst the other zillion humans who also decided to spend their holiday on balboa island, too. and it has been wonderful.
christmas 2012 has been one for the books. from a front-row seat to the newport beach boat parade and countless harbor strolls with momma, to a special christmas eve visit with not-seen-often-enough family members and time simply spent admiring God’s glorious artwork in the skies, this particular holiday certainly earned top honors.
and sure, i received more j.crew giftcards than even i might know what to do with (correction: i will always know what to do with a j.crew giftcard), and i haven’t taken off my new steve madden boots since i pulled them up over my calves christmas morning, but presents aside, this week has allowed me to really reflect on just how blessed of a life i am lucky enough to lead. not only is my life filled with numerous tangible gifts -a steady paycheck, a suburbian home, a reliable car, and pretty awesome wardrobe, but more importantly, it’s chock-full-of intangible blessings as well -love, laughter, encouragement -the bi-products of the indescribable relationships i have with my amazing family and friends.
i can’t help but think how much more quickly the holidays seem to come and go with each passing year. so for that reason, i’m all the more grateful that i was able to take this week-long hiatus to truly soak up every minute of 2012’s celebrations.
here’s hoping your christmas (and the days both preceding and proceeding it) was magical. enjoy these past few days of twenty-twelve and i’ll be sure to return to regular scheduled programming real soon (see also: on monday).

Great pictures – I especially liked the ‘twinners’. You and your mom have such a special relationship; that is excellent. Enjoy your time – be safe.
