this friday, i’m in love with…

recent purchases || i’ve made a few purchases to update my wardrobe for spring. this week i scored this dress (how cute would it be with these sandals and a jean jacket?), these high-rise shorts (hoping they’ll be flattering so i can pair them with a white tank, straw hat, and these lace-up espadrilles), and this straw bag (that will be perfect for summer!). if they’re winners, you’ll definitely be seeing them here on the blog soon!

poh & co. || afte bingeing queer eye a couple weeks ago (seriously go watch it!) and finishing up ugly delicious last friday, S and i were in search of a new show to entertain us on saturday nights. based on our viewing preferences, netflix suggested poh & co. the series documents poh ling yeow, the runner-up on australia’s version of master chef, her boyfriend (husband? they never specify), jono, and their two scottie dogs (rhino and tim) as they transform their shabby yard into an edible garden. throughout the episodes poh also shares family recipes from her malaysian heritage as well as a “midnight bake” where she features one of her favorite desserts in the wee hours of the morning. the episodes are only about 30 minutes long, so it’s really easy to watch one or six. plus, those australian accents are just so darn charming.

homemade almond butter || after nailing down my homemade hummus recipe, i’ve decided to expand my culinary repertoire to nut butters -starting with my favorite, almond butter. turns out it’s as simple as throwing a bag of raw almonds into a food processor and turning it on. well, sort of. maybe i’m just impatient, but even after having the machine run for a solid 10-15 minutes, all i had was some finely ground almond powder. hrmph. i googled recipes for a second time and even watched a youtube video only to learn that the best tip the internet could provide was patience. which apparently i don’t possess. ANYWHO, eventually the powder began to form a paste and finally formed a consistency i could work with. it definitely wasn’t creamy in nature but it tasted good. stay tuned for future and hopefully more successful attempts.

favorite outfits from the week include: julia’s wide leg pantsliz’s LWD (obsessed!), kendi’s ruffled sweater & casual button-down and jeans, mara’s ruffled skirt, shannon’s eyelet top & kate’s blue coat

three things i’m looking forward to this weekend:

dinner with my parents here

daylight saving time (though we technically lose an hour of sleep, we gain an hour of daylight!)

husband’s getting a haircut! i can’t wait to see the transformation

and in case you missed it, here’s what appeared on the blog this week:

snack plates with jilz crackers

easter dresses under $150

fitting room fables || madewell spring 2018

block sandals

well after a week of warmer temperatures, it looks like there’s rain in our future this weekend. while i’m not opposed to another cozy weekend indoors, i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t ready for some spring sunshine (and the ability to wear some spring clothes). c’est la vie, though, we’ll make the best out of it regardless. probably with another netflix binge. i hope you have a cozy weekend wherever you are! see you next week.

xoxo
