this friday, i’m in love with…
unmapped: the (mostly) true story of how two women lost at sea found their way home || you guys, my bestie WROTE A BOOK. my dear college friend and sorority sister, charlotte getz and her friend, stephanie phillips co-authored a book about their lives. here’s a summary care of barnes & noble: “Stephanie Phillips and Charlotte Getz never expected to raise their families anywhere but home, in the American South. But then…life happened. Quirky, hilarious, and (mostly) true, Unmapped is the tale of two long-distance friends who found home—together and apart—in unexpected exile. This spiritual memoir duet is unlike anything you’ve ever read”. i’m just so beyond proud of my friend and i can’t wait to snag a copy myself.
miracle noodles || after being on quite a zoodle (zucchini noodle) kick lately, i was craving a change. i started doing some internet research and stumbled upon shirataki noodles. what are shirataki noodles you ask? they’re a japanese noodle made from the konjac plant. they are 97% water and 3% soluble fiber (called glucomannan) with a natural calcium additive to help the noodles keep their shape. that’s it! they are keto, paleo, gluten-free, grain-free, soy-free, vegan, kosher, and blood sugar-friendly. oh and they have ZERO calories per serving. perhaps that is why they’re called miracle noodles! i tried the angel hair version this week and love them! they are pretty tasteless on their own, but i added in some veggies and chicken sausage and a sprinkle of coconut aminos and they were delicious. you could also cover them in marinara sauce or pesto for a more italian-inspired dish. i found them at sprouts and plan on stocking up on our next grocery run.
you can read more about miracle noodles on their FAQ section of their website.
home design inspiration || with our move just weeks away, i’m in full nesting mode (also, thank you so much for the love on yesterday’s post! i can’t wait to share more with you! everything will be under the NEW “casa de rivera” tab on the main menu). i have a general idea of how i’d like our home to look and feel, but obviously, photo inspiration helps so much in bringing the vision to life. recently i re-discovered jenni kayne’s blog, rip + tan and stumbled upon this interview she did with erin fetherson back in february. her l.a. home is STUNNING. while i don’t know how realistic it is to have nearly all white decor, i am definitely dog-earing the article for future reference as we start to formulate a decorating strategy. our homes have similar natural light so i’m confident we could recreate a comparable vibe and with S’s affinity for house plants, we definitely have that part covered.

what we’re buying for our new home
happy mother’s day weekend! what are you doing to honor your momma? as i mentioned above, we’re having a joint mother’s day lunch tomorrow with our moms and dads. we’re lucky that our parents get along so well so we’re excited to have everyone all in one place. other than that, despite having gotten a lot packed away last weekend (shout out to my parents for their massive help!), we still have some work to do in terms of cleaning out our condo in hopes of moving in the next few weeks (we’re renting back to the sellers before they make an international move). so i’m sure a portion of our weekend will be spent tackling the remaining stuff. while i hate packing, i know the light at the end of the tunnel is the opportunity to start life in our new home!
happy mother’s day to all the mommas (dog mommas included) out there! see you next week.
xo
p.s. a photo of my mom and mom-in-love at my dress appointment. such a special day/memory!
