growing up in san diego, the daily forecast didn’t often deviate from “sunny and 75.” so whenever it rained as a little girl, i’d pull on my wellies and raincoat, grab my umbrella, and dance around in the driveway beneath the raindrops.
fast-forward two dozen years and though i may no longer dance in my driveway, i still get giddy when it rains –if only for the fact that the sea foam green wellies i bought from target last year can finally emerge from their nine-month hibernation. the last time i wore these babies was last january when my boyfriend and i took a trip to the pacific northwest. so when we had ourselves a good old-fashioned rainstorm last week, i jumped at the opportunity to wear them again. according to the weather experts, this isn’t the last we’ve seen of a little rain. el nino is supposed to make this winter a wet and dreary one. which, for us californians, is great news for the drought, and for this californian specifically, is great news for her inner six-year-old who just wants to wear her wellies and play in the rain.
here’s how i styled my beloved rain boots for day and play.
