happy thanksgiving! i can’t believe the day has arrived. and yes, in case you were wondering, i’m currently in my stretchiest pants.

normally, this day would find me taking an early morning studio barre class, getting a leisurely start to my day, and finally retiring to my parents’ house around 3:00 in the afternoon. but this year is a little different. mostly because my life in general looks a little differently this thanksgiving than it did one year ago.

ahem, S.

so when the invitation arose to spend thanksgiving with S’s family instead of my own, i was truthfully very excited by the thought. it would be a new experience, with new people, new side dishes, new stories, making new memories in this new chapter of life. the opportunity to spend my favorite holiday of the year with my favorite person in the world and a selection of his immediate and extended family was one not to pass up!

and while i would be lying if i said i wasn’t harboring a small kaleidoscope of nervous butterflies in my belly on the thought of being the new kid at the table this year, i’m mostly just enthused. this will be the first thanksgiving i haven’t spent around a table of familiar faces, which is kind of a big deal, i suppose. a milestone is more like it. and i’m really glad that this particular “first” will be spent with S.

so with that said, i hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving holiday. may you pause to reflect on the Lord’s blessings in your life and thank Him for His providence. may your holiday be filled with the warmth and love of family and friends. and of course, may it be a day of sweet indulgence, of pumpkin pie, stuffing, cranberry, turkey, sweet potatoes, and gravy.
